Cataloging boot camp
In FY06, Rolling Prairie Library System (RPLS) received an LSTA grant to promote quality cataloging in the State of Illinois. "Cataloging Boot Camp" is a partnership of the IOUG (Illinois OCLC User Group), the Statewide Cataloging Standards Committee, and three of the RLS (Regional Library Systems): Lewis & Clark Library System, Shawnee Library System and Rolling Prairie Library System. This partnership's purpose is to develop training materials for copy catalogers and to educate instructors to present copy cataloging training sessions throughout the state with the ultimate goal of providing better access to materials through the online catalogs: OCLC, SILC and the Regional LLSAPs.
In May of 2006, the boot camp was held at Richland Community College with 24 participants. Pictured at the right are the participants -- Back Row: Robert Edwards, Cason Snow, Linda C.
